"A waterin' can without a complete spout?
However do you pour the water out?"
Now then, Doc, you're just being VERY SILLY! Go down a different road, but stay with the watering-can . . .
There was a keen gardener called Ned
whose children set fire to his shed.
With one can of water
he extinguished his daughter
(Doc! Slow Down! I think you've misread.)
Same way it goes in, or is that too obvious? Wet feet would ensue . . .
ReplyDeleteSome watering cans don't have roses,
ReplyDeleteso why say this one's incomplete?
As long as some liquid pours out from the end,
your roses will still get their treat
of blackspot remover or water -
depends what you'll give 'em to eat!
B and J . . . your comments made me look at the picture again, very carefully. I don't think you can properly see where the water goes in either!
ReplyDeleteThe 'secret' opening is in the dark spaces under the leaves - it's there if you look for it, but logic supplies the rest!
ReplyDeleteWho cares toss the watering can
ReplyDeleteWhat's required is a chic bed pan
Antique floral and nice
rose fragranc'd and spic'd
Could be used as a punch bowl if needed
Your brain is supposed to fill in the missing bits. Supposed to.
ReplyDeleteWhich brings me to the word of the day from Dictionary.com. Yeuk! You must know it...
Rall . . . I don't have one which exactly meets your requirements, but there's quite an interesting one HERE, on page 4 of 9
ReplyDeleteDeborah . . . Wow! Dictionary definition of "yeuk" is as surprising as "dasypygal" - which we had (no, dear . . I don't mean we were LITERALLY dasypygal, speaking only for myself, of course). But if you think about it - and probably you'd been advised not to - "yeuk" and "dasypygal" do go together in a scratchy sort of way . . .
You can't trick a clever gal like me Footsie.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely not an antique chamber pot!
nice play with the watering can and words...
ReplyDeleteRall . . .but your comment referred to antique bed-pan, which the pic might be, not to a chamber-pot, which it clearly isn't.
ReplyDeleteJingle . . don't take anything here too seriously. We're as mad as a bag of frogs!
Oh so very clever!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHelen . . . I think all those exclamation marks might be trying to tell me something!
ReplyDelete*rolling my eyes* (at my own stupidity. I should have seen that one coming...)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA I was about to say WHAT?! and the last line put me off. Whew! We need something like this in the serious literary canon.

ReplyDeleteCute. Very enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteoh ! You made me laugh and laugh! Perfect Magpie!
ReplyDeleteDang. It's about the daughter.
ReplyDeleteTumblewords, Kathew, AngelMay, Bernie and Angie Muresan . . .
ReplyDeleteOoerrrrr! Now I've got something to live up to! But all please note . . . I could never cope with being Terminally Silly without the devoted support of Jinksy, Deborah and others. I will visit all new follower blogs v.soon!
So . . . watch out! FTSE's about! (You pronounce it "Footsie")
haha. thanks for the chuckles this morning...nice magpie...
ReplyDeleteMagpie needs a little dose of silliness! Where have you been hiding? Thanks for the giggles.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't need this watering can anymore I think you can offer it for Emmeline Lucas' garden! As you know "Lucia" has given a lecture on "Humour in furniture" to the Literary Society of Riseholme. (If you ever wonder about my profound knowledge about 'Fred': I'm the only female member of the prize-winning team "Dig deeper, Georgie!" of the E.F.Benson Society in Rye)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he extinguished his daughter, because he oughta...
ReplyDeleteNice to see Chapman again...
Willow . . . well, y'know . . I usually hide in a watering can.
ReplyDeleteBritta . . . I must look into all that. Sehr mysterious!
Lyn . . . . and then his son because it was fun!
fun and delightful all rolled up into one!
ReplyDeleteClever Magpie..Indeed...bkm
ReplyDeleteOh, good Magpie :) I like your bit about you, too. It could be me.
ReplyDeleteSue J. No one should want to be like me . . . ! That way madness lies!
ReplyDeletebkm and Catherine Thank you! Your comments encourage me to write more, despite the protests!
