Willow's Trio of Snow Maidens is her delightful prompt this week
FALSE STARTS
Three Sisters (they’re straight out of Chekov!)
went forth in long coats and the wreck of
their once handsome bonnets.
(I've abandoned my sonnet
and quite lost the point of this heck of . . .
Er. . . er . . a wonderful limerick?)
“No, no, Doctor. Something's gone seriously wrong with that one! No ‘AWESOMES’ for you this week.”
Here ya go. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI do love the first line. : )
You will get AWESOMES showered upon you... LOL
ReplyDeleteit is awesome
ReplyDeleteawesome possum
ReplyDeleteYes, a wonderful limerick! Chekov, heck of. Love it.
ReplyDeleteClever limerick-writing -- thanks.
ReplyDeleteYeah...awesome it is!
ReplyDeleteI like it!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome limerick! ;)
ReplyDeleteYep, my vote is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAn heroic failure! But an awesomely brave attempt to do something different with the prompt.
ReplyDeletePssst . . Doc . . . that's actually myself, my devoted husband Caddoc and our Guidance Counsellor, Mr.Trellissimo in our awesome Doctor Zhivago costumes. (I'm the little one). Visit us HERE
ReplyDeleteI refuse to use the word 'awesome'. It has been so thoroughly abused for so long that even in appropriate circumstances it sounds ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteTo your attempt I say, instead....ADMIRABLE.
I see Ada trying to steal MY line - I'm normally the short one on the end.
ReplyDeleteInteresting rhyming!
Yes, Chekhov and the play and the dreary Russian winter do come to mind with this little triad. I like the way their hats just sort of sit on top like cherries on a sundae. Too bad there aren't more rhymes to Chekov, you could have finished your sonnet--or at least limerick--maybe Tolstoy???
ReplyDeleteThanks one and all for your awesome comments.
ReplyDeleteHedgewitch . . I found another rhyme for 'Chekov', but I would need to enjambe into the next line
didum dididum didi DECK OF
cards etc
(I'll get me coat . . . )
Stupendous!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular!
ReplyDeleteAwesome - again...
ReplyDeleteDare I say it, repeat it?? Awesome!
ReplyDelete...I love "trio of snow maidens". You're a hoot.
ReplyDeleteLol, that made me laugh! :O) So clever.... it was

AWESOME!
Funny man .......
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your partial poem. The Checkov reference was wonderful, and then to rhyme it with "wreck of"--you're reminding me now of the late, great Ogden Nash.
ReplyDeleteYes but comical and it does remind of Chekov! And your last great stretch with "heck of...."
ReplyDeleteclose to awesome
Chekov, perfect! I'd say a 'heck of' awesome to you, and a 'peck of' fun, too.
