There's Sadness  at the Heart of Things . . .

Said the Man to the Dawg "Walkies, freak.
It's time you went out for a leak."
The Dawg said "No rush!
See that poor dying bush?
I've been watering it for a week."

  6. BT is misbehaving today, but it seems that I am still in the good books of Google - all communication will depend on comment boxes! Alleluia, Blogger...if I were a dog I'd woof a thank you. Feel free to delete this Doc - it's my only line out at the moment...

  8. Love it! Reminds me of a plant in our garden that my husband disliked ... I couldn't understand why it never thrived.

  11. Goodness, Doctor! You've changed a lot since last week. Which is the real you? The limerick's up to scratch, though.

  12. Lucy . . you're a fine writer, and as such you surely know that there's no such thing as the "real" person - only the selected fictions we present to each other. BTW - where have you been recently? I'm missing your beautiful adverb-free pieces.

  16. I cannot wait to show your Mag to my husband. He will love it. :)
(We refer to our walks with our dog as "walkies" too. Long time ago I saw a TV show about a British woman who did a dog training show on TV over there. It was the term she used and I used it ever since.)

    1. Lydia - I guess you are referring to Barbara Woodhouse. Yes, she had a popular series of dog training shows on UK TV. You will find a pic of her here (scroll well down), and Google Images will throw up many more.

  19. A very funny piece. I like it! I'd forgotten about Barbara Woodhouse! Oh that voice! "Walkies"!!

( I don't have comment moderation but I'm seriously thinking about it as I have an 'anonymous' who insists on leaving spam and no matter how many times I've tried to block, he/she still gets through!)

Thank you for stopping by. To make life easier for you I have turned off the new indecipherable and time-wasting verification words. Would you care to "feedback" to Blogger and complain about them, like I did?
