Speaks
"Is that Tour de France Race Control? Please help. I am in a real hole.
I got lost on Stage Three.
When I stopped for a pee
they forgot about me.
Now I'm stranded, I fear . . .
What?!! Hang around here
until this time next year?
When the riders whizz past
I can catch up real fast
and back into Paris I'll roll?
Thinks
"This guy must be out of his tiny little mind."
More unlikely biking stories can be found here.
.
No fear, not to wait until next year! No, it must be the 'now' Things should be straighten out just nicely, I'm sure!

I've heard of 'time out', but maybe a year would be taking it too far?!
ReplyDeleteHappy pedalling, Doctor!
Tiny little mind indeed! that's great!! thanks.
DeleteI don't find this unlikely at all..and holding for a year...well, it just seems that way...
ReplyDeleteWhere did he carry the coins?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you just love the Tour De France chaps to be togged up like this instead of all that figure huggin Lycra?
ReplyDeleteInteresting theory, well disguised, especially for dopes (like me) who don't follow any sort of sporting events :-)Too easy to underestimate this one: I had to do a bit of research, my favorite thing. Thanks, Doctor.
ReplyDeleteha...might be a long wait...just point yerself in a direction and i am sure you will run into someone eventually....
DeleteThis is funny Doc! I dont know why, but the last two prompts inspired me in a way that had nothing to do with the pictures.
ReplyDeleteWander
Yes I will complain about them!!!
ReplyDeleteThe funniest part of your Mag? How you used whizz and pee in the same poem!
ReplyDeleteYour poem reminded me of my brother who was drinking with some buddies. One of his buddies passed out. So they drove the oblivious fellow into the woods, left him by a pathway and put up a sign that said "Paris 30km > ".
ReplyDeleteOh, wait... that was my small brained brother you connected with in the poem.... *giggle*
Clever - and enjoyable...
ReplyDeleteI'd have to wait the year out......safety in numbers, like - for my cycling anyhow....!
ReplyDeleteheehee
ReplyDelete;)
lol, when the riders 'whizz past'? Do you have the same slang on that side of the pond? Very silly :o)
ReplyDeleteanything possible on the Tour de France....on steroids.....nicely done
ReplyDeletefear he's out til next year.
ReplyDeleteI spy a respite just over there.

Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteLost in France for a year? I could cope with that:)
The first line had me laughing! Is he wearing Australia's latest "aerodynamic" racing gear? ;)
ReplyDeleteI looked up George Gilbert Scott's work on Google images... just stunning. Oh, to someday see all that glory and genius in person... Thank you :)
The best unobstructed views of Scott's Glasgow University are from across the Kelvingrove Park. The "Glasgow Herald" newspaper - not conspicuous for its admiration of the building - describes it as "The Fairy Palace on Gilmorehill." Unfair! On a clear, sunny morning I rate it amongst the finest architectural sites in the UK. The best views of west Glasgow and the Clyde Valley are seen from the University spire. I'm well-retired now, Margaret, but if you're ever in the city, email me. I think I could arrange a trip up there. A great leg-pull was to tell visitors "On a really, really clear day, you can see the Statue of Liberty." You wouldn't believe how many needed a double-take . . .
Deletehaha... love this
ReplyDeleteha ha ha. The Statue of Liberty! You will be the first we call... but college bills loom large (and horse boarding ...I have two beautiful horses now and I think they are more expensive than children :) Thank you. But some day... I want to travel overseas... My mom and dad finally did when they were 75 (but I don't want to wait that long).
ReplyDeletehe must ignore that idiot and just follow his nose to a delicious French Bakery! Fun read and take on the image!
ReplyDeleteWhat, didn't he sign up for the Tour de Patience?
ReplyDeleteWould anyone?
A polka-dotted jersey would go with that neon, don't you think? (But not the yellow; that would clash!)
ReplyDeleteDoctor . . you are a mine of mad ideas. Keep it up. I love the "thinks" line. Isn't that just the sort of thing we all think about Call Centres.
ReplyDeleteThat’ll teach him to answer the call of nature! Can’t help thinking his heart wasn’t entirely in it.
ReplyDelete"thinks" made me giggle...
ReplyDeleteI find that a very logical solution.
ReplyDeleteHa.. too funny. Maybe you can just back peddle. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit to my blog, yesterday, and especially for being word verification-free. :)
