But Not Necessarily in the Right Order!

Here's a little effort in response to Marian's IGWRT challenge on April 30th. to write an "Alphabetic Word Embedded Sequence Ode, Metrics Excluded" poem

Attention!  Brian Clough, drunken egomaniac,
footballing genius, harangues 'imself jocularly.
"Kick lover-man's nuts!"
"Obvious penalty!" quoth referee, shouting.
Truculent Uruguayan veteran winger
xclaimed - "You zombie!"

  1. Yay! :)
But I think this makes me glad I know nothing about football...

  2. This is very well done - even to the inclusion of authentic direct speech.

  3. I looked up quotes by him and laughed and laughed. What a sense of humor he had (at least for the fans, not sure what the players thought at the time)

    1. I liked the quote about Sven Goran Erikkson (a Swede) speaking English better than the players. Far from unusual these days. What do Novac Djokovic, Roger Federer and Raphael Nadal have in common, apart from being brilliant tennis players? They all speak better English than Andy Murray.

  4. Wow...brilliant!

I'm now trying to resist the temptation to have a go myself (I should be writing something else)...

    1. Remember what Oscar Wilde said. "I can resist everything except temptation."

  5. POsitively Pythonesque. Love the colloquial, 'imself, fit the prompt nicely and with great humor.

Altogether a delight! First time here, won't be the last. This was hysterical. Amy

    1. Amy - beautiful comment. Can Doctor expect further generous hysteria? I just keep looking more nervously over previous posts(*) . . . seriously thinking up very wonderful xamples. Yours zincerely. FTSE

    1. Oh, fame at last! But please understand, Helena, I cannot be held responsible for any damage to your household resulting from the broadcast.

Thank you for stopping by. To make life easier for you I have turned off the new indecipherable and time-wasting verification words. Would you care to "feedback" to Blogger and complain about them, like I did?
