Sooooooooooooo . . . . .

It's Wall-To-Wall electioneering from now till May 6th!  How on earth will we fill the bleak and endless hours while the telly spews out unbroken Brown, Cameron, Clegg and Salmond making their unbreakable and soon-to-be-broken promises?   I suppose we could all blog a bit more . . . .

  1. Probably do what we just did..switch off for the duration and get a life in which you'll be able to do all sorts of wonderful things.
Our ballot papers for a State election are around a metre wide and half a metre deep with 74 candidates 'below the line'.If they gave them out a month before the election there'd be time to read them and appreciate the wonders of democracy.

  2. I only wish we could have an election - again, although we've had 3 in the last 6 years I think. (getting a bit like Italy) To get rid of he who is looking an awful like a veeeery right-wing conservative a la George W.

  3. Australia is heading the same way later in the year! What I want is a Benevolent Dictator who can actually make long-term decisions!

  4. I say thank goodness for Radio 7. It's just regaled me with half an hour of Paul Temple - much more interesting than any politician could ever be. But why don't we choose our own Benevolent Blogland Dictator candidates and hold a rival election? I propose the good Doctor - any seconders?!

  5. Doc - I see you have your campaign slogan already sorted 'United People For The Eradication of the Durian'...

  6. What an Absolutely Splendid Idea, Jinksy. And I accept nomination, but only on condition that there are no other candidates. You lot have a lot to learn about Dictatorships hehehe!

  7. I second that, Jinksy, although it appears my vote is redundant. As are all subsequent , most likely.

  8. Ladies . . I have yet to pick myself a Dictatoress! And HeHeHe . . it is in the nature of Dictatoring that the Chosen One will have no choice but to be chosen.

  9. I propose a campaign slogan to go with my manifesto promise that everyone, by 2011, will own their own teddy bear. 'A Future Furry for All'. Vote for me.

  10. Fran -
Boris, my teddy bear, has already voted for you, as have Willoughby, Montmorency, Vostock and Barnaby - mmy other teddy bears.

And ladies, be warned - the Doctor's Dictatorial Designs on Demure Damsels may be Deleriously Devilish. They may have to dance attendance - which is so much worse than a ninedance, or an eightdance, come to that.

  12. Democracy is much overrated. I also vote for a benevolent dictatorship with no sloganeering necessary.
Perhaps we could put all politicians in the soup and ridicule them in our own inimitable way, and then go to BBC TV Channel Four instead, before Mr. Murdoch's machinations causes that to go up in a puff of smoke; there's some fantastic music programmes to be had for the switch of a button.

  13. I'm just not sure about The Good Doctor becoming Dictator, he has too many opinions and worthwhile things to contribute to make a good dicator or politician of any stripe for that matter.
A bloodless coup is needed and Paddington Bear installed, preferable at No 10, any bear really as long as it's broon. Not that I have a say, being far away, nearly on another planet.A bloodless coop with a headless chook would probably do better than most.
Radio 7...I have been gone a long time, you'd only got to 4 when I departed.

Thank you for stopping by. To make life easier for you I have turned off the new indecipherable and time-wasting verification words. Would you care to "feedback" to Blogger and complain about them, like I did?
